Disability Network Washtenaw Monroe Livingston (DNWML) was founded as Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, set out to create a more inclusive world where people with disabilities have equal opportunities. Simply put, we are run by people with disabilities for people with disabilities. Since 1976, we have worked hand-in-hand with you to help you live the life you want to live. Our mission is to empower the lives of people with disabilies and advocate for a more inclusive community for all.

In addion to providing individualized services, community advocacy, and group workshops, we are a dynamic community enrichment and resource center lled with events and acvies to help you connect with people and your passions through individualized service, group workshops, and community advocacy.

Throughout the year, DNWML hosts a variety of events that uplift, educate, and bring the community together:

  • Annual ADA Celebration Picnic – Held every July, this event honors the signing of the Americans with Disabilies Act with free food, activies, guest speakers, and more. Mark your calendar for July 26, 2025!

  • Harvest Gathering – A fall event where we celebrate community & share a meal.

  • Holiday Market – A artisan market where disabled artists from our community sell their work!

Looking forward, DNWML is expanding our reach with exciting programs and initiatives:

  • 50th Anniversary Celebration (June 27, 2026) – Join us for a historic milestone as we celebrate ve decades of impact. Stay tuned for event details!

  • Free Accessible Fitness Center – Located in our Washtenaw office.

  • Increased Advocacy & Outreach – Engaging in policy discussions, accessibility initiatives, and community education to further disability rights.
